The stream moves between six families of music through the day. Every track passes a person before it reaches the schedule.

Ambient

Instrumental music built from tone and atmosphere. Spacious and unobtrusive, made for thinking rather than for listening hard.

Classical

Art music rooted in the Western tradition, sacred and secular, running from before the sixth century to the present day.

Jazz

Born in the African American communities of New Orleans. Blue notes, complex chords, call and response, and improvisation at the centre.

Pure lounge

Easy listening built to evoke a place. Beautiful music instrumentals meeting modern electronica, chillout and downtempo.

Piano

Solo piano, sometimes carrying a whole piece alone, sometimes lifted just above the rest of the arrangement.

Cinematic

Cues written for film, television and documentary. Orchestral and choral writing that carries the emotion of a scene.

Why we call ourselves the authority on lounge

loungemusic.co.uk exists to bring quality, fresh music to its listeners. Our programme zones are chosen with care and cover lounge, classical, piano, ambient, jazz and cinematic music, recorded and in live session.

Our producers and DJs pick the best in independent lounge music from around the world for air time. We are independent musicians ourselves, working alongside small labels and collecting societies to protect our rights and show our repertoire.

If you are a producer, publisher, composer, musician or ensemble, your music is always welcome on our schedule.
